Holt believed the engineers had the only honest answer in the Corridor, which was to grow more than you burned. He ran their seed and their medicine up the highway when the tolls were high and the escorts were thin. Mara rode with him a while and then did not. He kept going alone, which on the Corridor is its own kind of sentence. They found the cart before they found him. Greenline noted the loss in the same ledger they note a failed crop, and planted again.
